We are St. Mary's School of Piscataway, and we are a Catholic elementary school serving grades kindergarten through eight. We are located in southern Prince George's County between Clinton, Fort Washington, Accokeek, and Waldorf. We recognize that a child's educational experience is a partnership between the home and school. St. Mary’s promotes the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of each child.
Our campus is nestled on more than 14 acres on the banks of the Piscataway Creek in beautiful Clinton, Maryland. The area around our school is a blend of well-established neighborhoods and newer, family-friendly communities with nearby historic homes and farmland.
Dear Parents and Community Members,
When I first stepped onto the grounds of St. Mary’s School of Piscataway many years ago, I knew immediately that it was a special place. It was then and remains now, a place that is warm and inviting; one where individuals at every level are inspired to grow both academically and spiritually; and one that offers a safe and secure environment. With this realization also came an element of surprise. St. Mary’s School of Piscataway was a “hidden jewel;” a place that was found by accident or that was mentioned casually without actual information.
However, the reality is that once people find St. Mary’s, they tend to stay. Each year, over half of our eighth grade graduates boast that they started at the school in kindergarten. We experience a very low turnover among faculty and staff as well, with many having served ten years or more at the school. In fact, two faculty members graduated from St. Mary’s and returned to teach at the school they loved as children. I have affiliated myself with the school for over 20 years.
With this website, we’ve done our best to give visitors a glimpse of St. Mary’s, but we realize that it is with limitations. We can report our outstanding academic credentials; we can explain that the Christian environment is the underlying force driving the school mission and vision; we can describe the family atmosphere, the appreciation of diversity, and the attention to character values. But until you actually walk the serene grounds, until you talk with members of the faculty and staff, until you see the excitement of challenge and pride of success on the faces of the students and the interaction between the children, their teachers and their friends, you will not truly appreciate all that St. Mary’s School of Piscataway has to offer.
Please accept my invitation to personally visit the school, to sense and experience all that is St. Mary’s School of Piscataway - a place where excellence is not only sought but also achieved. It truly is a place where miracles happen!
Yours in Christ,
Kathleen C. Pfaff
