St. Mary’s Parish Mission
“Jesus the Healer”
The opening service for the Parish Mission will be on Sunday, March 4th at 7:30 p.m. Father John Murray, C.Ss.R., a Redemptorist priest from Brooklyn, NY, will preach at the daily morning Masses but the main service of the Mission is in the evening at 7:30 p.m. Make the most of this special opportunity given by God to take a spiritual inventory of your life. How many more chances will you get to prod yourself to move spiritually the way that you know you should and can? Sure, the Mission will disrupt your usual routines, but isn’t your spiritual well being worth a few evenings out? Take the Mission seriously.
Participate, pray, attend Mass and receive the
Sacraments. We are looking forward to seeing you at the Mission. |
CATHOLIC STANDARD
“The Family’s Catholic Newspaper”
Do you realize that every new subscription to the Catholic Standard will save our parish $18.50 in 2007?  As part of our fundraising, St. Mary’s School collects Campbell Soup labels, Box Tops for Education, Nestle Water labels, empty toner cartridges and used cell phones. Also Safeway, Giant, Food Lion, and Target have fundraisers based on your purchases to support our school; however, registration is required at each store.

Sodality is a group of Catholic women willing to work together in service of Christ’s Church and the world in every area of life: family, work, professional, civil and ecclesial. Sodality meets
every 1st Sunday of the month after the 9:30 a.m. Mass in the school hall.
Sodality members will sit together and receive Communion together at the 9:30 Mass on the

Cemetery Regulations
Established by Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Washington
1. Fresh flowers are welcome all year.
2. Artificial flowers are allowed only from Nov. 16th through March 15th.
3. Flowers of any type may be removed when they become unsightly or the particular season/holiday is over. We will not be responsible for saving containers etc. if we have to remove items.
4. Other decorations such as glass containers, candles, lights, metal staffs, etc. are prohibited and subject to immediate removal.
5. Individual plantings of trees, shrubs, flowers, etc. are not allowed.
Anyone interested in purchasing a cemetery site at St. Mary’s should contact Catholic Cemeteries at (301) 932-1766 and talk to John, Janet or Julie.

Confirmation Sessions will be held on Thursdays, March 1st, March 22nd and April 19th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall for 7th graders (pizza dinner included), and from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. for 8th graders. On the
April 19th, parents and sponsors of the 8th graders should also attend.
There will be a Parent Meeting for First Communion on
Monday, March 26th from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Main Church.
There will be a Retreat and Rehearsal for First Communion students and parents on
Saturday, May 5th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning in the parish hall.
First Communion will be celebrated on
Sunday, May 6th at 2:00 p.m. in the Main Church.
Confirmation Rehearsal will be held on Sunday, May 27th for all 8th Grade students and their sponsors from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the Main Church.
Confirmation will be celebrated on
Sunday, May 27th at 2:00 p.m. in the Main Church with Bishop Gonzalez.
New folks are welcome to join these
groups at anytime!
Book Discussion Group meets every
Sunday morning 10:45–11:45 a.m. in the faculty lounge or behind the school depending on the weather.

St. Mary’s Parish School of Religion (PSR) or Sunday School
(Kindergarten through 8th grade) will be held on
Sunday mornings, 10:45–11:50 a.m. through May 20th. Children can be registered at anytime during the year by contacting Bill Keimig. Cost for one student, $85; for two students, $105; and three students, $120. We look forward to continuing to work with you to ensure that love for Jesus Christ and His Church gets passed down to the next generation.
Baptismal Classes for parents wishing to have their child baptized will be on the 4th Sunday of the month (February 25th) after the 12 p.m. Mass.

Catholics Coming Home is an apostolate for those who are considering returning to their Catholic faith, or just wanting to talk about their struggles with the Church. We will meet on
Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. (except major holidays) in the school library. New participants are welcome at any session.
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults):
Come and see! Are you searching for a Church to call your own? Do you struggle with questions about life, death, suffering, hope, forgiveness, love, and God? Sessions exploring these and other issues in relation to our Catholic faith are being held on

Living in the Spirit: St. Mary’s Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) prayer group meets Thursday nights, 7:30–9:30 p.m. at the Rusins’ home. Join us for prayerful singing, strong fellowship and new friendships! Please call Carol Rusin at (301) 292-1114 for directions.
Cenacle Prayer Group meets Friday evenings (except for 1st Friday) after the Mass. Prayers are focused on behalf of our priests. We also petition Mother Mary to protect our families. Children of all ages are welcome!

Bulletin articles must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Friday for publication two weekends later. Bulletin inserts must be in the parish office on the Tuesday prior to the weekend that the insert will be used. Inserts and articles for the bulletin must be approved by the pastor and arrangements for the organization to stuff the bulletin with the secretary.

 We have reached our goal! The Blood Mobile and students from the Beddow High School Red Cross Club will be at St. Mary’s Church
next weekend, February 25th. If you have signed up to donate blood, please meet at the back of the church after Mass next weekend. There will be forms to fill out before proceeding to the Blood Mobile. Thank you for your support!
Quilters Wanted: St. Mary’s piece makers will be starting the new quilt for 2007. The group meets once a week and can really use the extra help! Previous experience is not necessary. Our first meeting will be on February 10th. If you’d like to join us, please call Pat Seaquist at (301) 843-2082.
