The power of Forgiveness –

Lent highlights why the Lord had to die. He came to redeem us from the hold of sin in our personal and collective lives. By the Mystery of His Passion, Death and Resurrection, we were saved. The Lord provided for His Church the means to dispense His Mercy and His Forgiveness. The Sacrament of Penance is the special moment of Grace offered to any and all who seek reconciliation with God and with the community of Faith. This Sacrament, given by Jesus, strengthens us individually in Faith, Hope and Charity. I hope all will take advantage of the additional confessional times this week. Visiting priests will be here this Tuesday, March 22nd at 7:30 pm in the Main Church. There will be confessions on Good Friday and Holy Saturday in the Main Church from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Parents, remember that, what you do and consider important is observed by your little ones. Keep in mind that the Sacrament of Penance is an honest and humble acknowledgment on our individual part that we have sinned and need to be forgiven by the Lord Jesus.

“Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” shout the crowds in today’s Gospel. May we be always ready to share our blessings when we are sent in His name!

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

NOTE: Most activities are cancelled this week and next weekend for Holy Week/Easter.

St. Mary’s Redemptorist Parish Mission will be celebrated from Sunday, April 10th thru Thursday, April 14th and led by Father William Maggs, CSsR. There will be an 8:30 a.m. Mass in the Chapel each day and an 8:00 p.m. service in the Main Church. Saint Mary’s Parish is being drawn into a deeper sense of the Easter message with the help of a Mission. Many will recall the Mission lead by Father Freund in the fall of 2003. We were all reminded of the un-holy Trinity of Me, Myself and I. The Redemptorist Congregation keeping to the spirit of Saint Alphonsus Ligouri have passed on a deepening of the Faith rooted in a Eucharistic character and an affectionate love and devotion to our Holy Mother. I encourage our families to take advantage of this extra-ordinary time of Grace and schedule your week around the Mission. More details will be available over the next weeks.

Mark Your Calendars Now: Vacation Bible School will be held on Monday, August 1st – Friday, August 5th from 8:30 a.m. till Noon.

The Parish Office will be closed ½ day on Holy Thursday and all day on Good Friday. We will reopen on Easter Monday. Please remember to turn your clocks ahead on Easter Sunday, March 27th. HAPPY EASTER from all of the staff at St. Mary’s!
