The Issues of Life and Death???

With the death of Mrs. Theresa Schiavo, nee Schindler, much discussion has taken place in our homes, places of work and in other settings. Without commenting on the many questions that have arisen in this particular case—a central point of reflection has emerged for all of us. What if we find ourselves in a medical emergency or circumstance unable to articulate our desires? It is important that all of us designate to one person the necessary power of attorney with all the authority to make decisions. Our families must be made aware of our thoughts on this subject matter and our primary physician needs to be made aware of our desires. This process must also be made within the moral teaching of the Church. It is true that the variables are different for each and every circumstance. However, by having this element of our lives in good order, much confusion can be avoided. Lastly, a periodic update and discussion of our wishes with our responsible agent is prudent and wise.

Welcome to new parishioners: Mr. Brian Buteler, Ms. Leslie Eckzird, Ms. Druezella High and Mr. & Mrs. George McCree.

The disciples in today’s Gospel came to know Jesus in the breaking of the bread. When we share what we have with those who are in need, we, too, will discover Jesus in our midst.

 EASTER FLOWERS: In Memory/Honor of:
Thomas & Madlyn McCann, Edward & Dorothy Camalier, Maggie Gladden and Sean Butler.
