“Roll out those lazy, crazy, hazy days of summer”—
For those who remember Nat King Cole, the above phrase brings back many
memories. Yet, summer is that short period on the calendar for us to try
and spend more time with your families. This summer will witness the
gathering of youth in Cologne, Germany. Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict,
will challenge our youth to not only a greater love of the Lord but
encourage them to make Him a real Presence in their individual lives.
This first awareness flows for many of us in the family. I encourage you
to include some family prayer time in this short period. Our mutual
example sows seeds that have a lasting imprint. Apart from the necessary
precautions needed in the sun, I hope that those who will travel will do
so safely and that your memories of this summer will be wonderful.

Our Greatest Need
He knew we longed for peace
but He did not come as a general.
He knew we longed for unity,
but He did not come as a politician.
He knew we longed for wealth,
but He did not come as an economist.
He knew we longed for knowledge,
but He did not come as a scientist.
He knew we longed for laughter,
but He did not come as an entertainer.
He could have blessed us in any of these ways,
but He did not.
For He knew that our greatest need was for
forgiveness, and so He came to be our Savior. |
