On Monday, July 4th the parish and school offices will be
closed in observance of Independence Day. Have a wonderful day!
|
|

Another July 4th
In 1776, John Adams had a powerful sentiment concerning how this day
would be remembered and celebrated. Fifty years later to the date,
Jefferson, the author of the Declaration and Adams, the driving force
for Independence died. A little history is good! Yet, we recall the
event solemnly each year especially in the Mass. The preface of the Mass
reminds us that the task and promise are still to be advanced.
Underlying the events of that first Independence Day was the clear
understanding that mankind derived rights from God. Gratitude should be
evident in the celebration of the day and a sharing of the meaning of
the day to the young. Once again, this 4th we cannot but be mindful of
the many who are defending these ideals. Our Mass on the 4th will again
ask God to bless us as a Nation and a People. May we draw a spirit of
deeper commitment to the ideals declared openly to the world on July 4,
1775.

St. Theresa’s Prayer
May today there be peace within. May you trust God
that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget
the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use
those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has
been given to you. May you be content knowing you are a child of
God. Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul
the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love. It is there for each
and every one of you. |
