in Ordinary Time August 14, 2005
She said, "Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that
fall from the table of their masters." Then Jesus said to her in reply,
"O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish." And
her daughter was healed from that hour.

The
Feast of the Assumption falls on a Monday this year. Consequently, although
it is a Holy Day, it is not one of Obligation. However, the feast helps us
to understand our destiny which is union with God in heaven. As we look to
Mary’s response to God throughout her life, we are challenged to ask the
question: “How well disposed am I day by day to doing God’s will?” Mary had
to choose time and time again and say “yes” to the grace of God offered her
in all circumstances of her life. We are also invited to turn to that grace
day by day in our journey to the Father. May Mary intercede for all of us
throughout our pilgrimage of life.
In
today’s reading, St. Paul tells the Romans, “God’s gifts and his call are
irrevocable.” To what is God calling me today? What gifts are mine to share?
Summer Hours at St. Mary’s School: During the summer the

Come and Sing with Us in His
Name
Have you experienced praying and begging for mercy, and it seemed like
you failed to connect your prayers? Have you experienced the feeling as
if the world is totally against you? Have you experienced successive
failures and defeats in your life as if everybody seemed to connive
against you? You calm yourself down and think, “Something is not right
in my life.” Your heart and mind are not in harmony with the teaching
and blessing of our Lord.
Come sing and pray with us in the choir to bring your life in tune with
the teaching of our Lord. Come and praise His name in song so that you
will be blessed. Let us sing His teaching, His hopes, and His love
together in harmony and rejoice.
If you have the talent to sing, come and sing with us in His name. Do
not fail His calling if you are blessed with the gift to sing. If you
do not know how to sing, you will learn, if you believe. There is
nothing in this world that we cannot overcome if we believe in Him.
Experience the joy and great feeling of being able to serve Him in
song.
Singing with the choir is a commitment. It is a dedication you have to
honor and totally reserve for our Lord, every Thursday evening at 7:30
and one hour before the noon mass every Sunday for choir practice. It
is a sacrifice of love you endure because you are doing it in His name.
Come join the choir and celebrate with us the birth, the life, the
death and the resurrection our Lord Jesus Christ in song. You will find
that your prayers and your life will be blessed. Let us sing together
melodiously in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
