August approaches its end. Students, at all levels of education, prepare to begin another academic year of exploration. As we begin another school year, new faces dot the landscape of the parish day-school. Over the next weeks, you will have the opportunity through the weekly bulletin to meet those associated in part with the educational apostolate of our parish. The journey to God for each of us is influenced by many teachers along the way. I would ask you to pray for our teachers in the day-school and the school of religion. Let us ask God to bless them in this important work in our parish and supplement to the true school for all of us - our family. † |

Run For Vocations, a team of dedicated men and women are looking for a few more team members to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon. ATTENTION ALL MEN On Saturday, September 23rd at St. Louis Parish, Alexandria, VA there will be an important men’s conference featuring a talk by the world-renowned author and speaker, Stephen Wood. The conference at St. Louis’ is entitled, “Passing the Torch—the Four Quarters of Fatherhood” and will present vital information on the battle for the souls of our children. Just like a football game, these fathering strategies are divided into four quarters: BIG BAND SPECTACULAR The Restorers of Mt. Carmel are sponsoring a bus trip on Tuesday, December 12th to the Big Band Christmas Spectacular at the LaFontaine Bleu in Glen Burnie, MD. Book Discussion Group meets every Sunday morning 10:45–11:45 a.m. in the faculty lounge or behind the school depending on the weather. Come for good fellowship, donuts and hot drinks! Baptismal Classes for parents wishing to have their child baptized will be on the 4th Sunday of the month after the 12:00 p.m. Mass. You must pre-register! Please contact Bill Keimig to pre-register or for further information. Catholics Coming Home is an apostolate for those considering returning to their Catholic faith, or just wanting to talk about their struggles with the Church. We will meet on Monday evenings from 7:30–9:00 p.m. (except major holidays) in the school library. New participants are welcome at any session. Cenacle Prayer Group meets Friday evenings (except for the 1st Friday of the month) from 8:00–9:00 p.m. in Our Lady’s Chapel. Prayers are focused on behalf of our priests. Registration for St. Mary’s Parish School of Religion (PSR) or Sunday School (Kindergarten through 8th grade) will take place during the next four
Sundays (August 20th through September 3rd). There will be a sign-up table available in the vestibule of the Main Church after all Masses. PSR will officially begin on
Sunday, September 10th. There will be a late fee accessed for registering your child after the 10th.
When you come to register, you will receive a schedule for the entire PSR year. We look forward to continuing to work with you to ensure that love for Jesus Christ and His Church gets passed down to the next generation.

Sodality is a group of Catholic women
willing to work together in service of Christ’s Church and the world in every area of life: family, work, professional, civil and ecclesial. Sodality meets
every 1st Sunday of the month (September 3rd) after the 9:30 a.m. Mass in the school hall.

Holy Name Society is a group of Catholic men that promote reverence for the name of God and sanctification of members, support the clergy and work for the good of the parish.
