REGISTRATION FOR ST. MARY’S PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (PSR): Registration for Sunday School (Kindergarten to 8th grade) will take place during the next four Sundays (August 21st, 28th, and September 4th). There is a sign-up table available in the vestibule of the main church after all the Masses. PSR will officially begin on Sunday, September 11th. There will be a late fee assessed for registering your child after the 11th. When you come to register, you will receive a schedule for the entire PSR year. We look forward to continuing to work with you to ensure that love for Christ and the Catholic Church gets passed down to the next generation.

The gathering of youth in Cologne this week was inspired by the moving theme of the Three Wise Men––
“We have come to worship Him.” The events of the World Youth Day, which were available for all of us to participate in through the medium of EWTN television, gave us an opportunity to renew our hope not only in the youth of our time, but a reminder of the abiding love and presence of the Lord in our daily lives. May God bless the pilgrims with a safe return to their homes.

In today’s readings, St. Paul reminds the Romans, and us, that all things come from God: “For from Him and through Him and for Him all things are.” Good stewards understand that all is a gift and share generously the gifts of time, talent, and treasure with which they’ve been blessed.

MUSIC MINISTRY

Greetings to St. Mary’s Parish Family:

I have been singing since around the age of five. My first choir was Sister Daily’s Sunshine Band in Raleigh, North Carolina. We wore blue robes with white angel collars and white beanie caps. We looked great, but our voices were still developing, and we yelled a lot. Sister said we were “Divine.” We enjoyed singing and that same enjoyment is my reason for singing today.

Singing at St. Mary’s is something that I truly enjoyed for the last 15 years. This is my way of making a contribution of my time and talent to the Church, and more importantly, to God.

I lift my voice and I know He hears me. Suddenly, I feel good when I sing. All of my daily stresses are removed when I sing. Sitting at choir practice is almost therapeutic, even when we are being advised that we “sang a wrong note.” We know we are not perfect but we are willing to sing anyway. Dr. Terry is a great leader and he is always willing to assist us, especially when he hears the wrong note.

Will those of you who are willing, or weary, or worry about life stresses, please come and lift your voices and sing with us. God shared His gifts and His love with all of us. Come and share your gifts of song and love with us too.

“Sing for the Lord a new song….”
