The Month of November

Each year, the Church reminds us of our Hope with the Festival of All Saints. The next day, we are asked to recall our deceased family members and friends with the commemoration of All Souls. Drawing from tradition, the teaching of the Church, and our love for family and friends, we pray for them in a special way for the month. Life, as we know from our common experience, is short. The mystery of death, while not the most common subject at gatherings, enters into the circle of our family and friends. The blessing of our Faith is what enables us to deal with the sting of death and pain. Because we are rooted in the Lord Jesus, we turn to Him with confident hope and renew within ourselves the proper dispositions necessary to respond faithfully to the gift of life. It is a good month to recall our loved ones, to share the story of their lives, the anecdotes that bring a smile, to prayerfully say, “I love you.” May those who have preceded us attain the mercy of God and in time be counted in the Communion of Saints.

News on Traffic Situation

“I want to inform you that there was a serious accident in front of Our Lady's Chapel yesterday afternoon (10/18) shortly after our dismissal. It did not involve any of our school families to my knowledge. However, there were serious injuries to the drivers of both cars and all involved were taken to the hospital by ambulance and Life Flight helicopter. We did receive a reply from the State Highway Administration in answer to our many letters regarding the safety of the new traffic pattern. We have been told that, "traffic engineering staff will evaluate this matter to determine the best possible recommendations for safety measures at this location. This type of evaluation will take up to 90 days to complete. “Please pray for those involved in this accident and that there will be swift action taken by those in charge to prevent more accidents from happening.”

RCIA: Our inquiry sessions have just begun, but we are still waiting for YOU!

God created all things from nothing. He continually sustains them in existence. He makes possible their actions and leads them to their ultimate perfection. For those inquiring into the Catholic faith, we reviewed Scripture from the first book of the Bible called Genesis. Why did God create anything at all? The world was made for the glory of God and to communicate his everlasting love to His beloved creation. He does not need to create us because he is lonely or in need of our love. Rather, God creates out of his goodness and superabundant love. Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic tradition? Are you looking for a pressure-free, non-judgmental environment where you can learn about Catholicism? Have you had a previous bad experience while looking into the faith? Want a fresh start? Perhaps you are searching quietly and need some answers. Get all of your questions answered! It is not too late to join us! You do not have to journey alone!

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) sessions will be held on Tuesday evenings at 7:15 p.m. in the school library. Feel free to come any Tuesday. Please call Bill Keimig, Director of Religious Education, if you have questions or would like further information.

The Gospel of John with Deacon Ames will be held on Wednesday evenings through May 9th (except for major holidays) from 7:15–8:45 p.m. in the parish conference room. It is available online at www.ignatius.com or can be ordered by phone at 1-800-651-1531. The cost is $19.95 plus shipping and handling. Please feel free to join us! Contact person: Deacon Ames at (301) 203-9174.
