I am writing to update you on our principal position. As you know, Mrs. Michelle Moreno was appointed our interim principal in summer 2025. I am most thankful and have been impressed with Mrs. Moreno’s leadership as interim principal over these past months. Last week our secretary and superintendent for Catholic Schools, Ms. Branaman, the associate superintendent, Mr. Buchleitner, and I interviewed Ms. Moreno. The interview confirmed for us that she is the right person to be both the spiritual and instructional leader here at St. Mary’s of Piscataway. I am very pleased to announce that Ms. Moreno has accepted the principal position.

Michelle has a bachelor of arts degree and a master’s degree in elementary education, both from Trinity Washington University. Before accepting the interim principal position, Mrs. Moreno dedicated 17 years to teaching elementary education, the first five years at St. Anthony Catholic School, the school she attended as a child. From there, Michelle invested the remainder of her teaching expertise with Prince George’s County Public Schools, where she gained valuable experience in data-driven instruction to successfully teach students at their individual level of need. Twelve years later, when the interim principal position at St. Mary’s became available, Ms. Moreno welcomed the opportunity to return to the Archdiocese of Washington family of Catholic schools.
